Mrs. Widinski's biology class went to the LWE prairie to conduct a sampling lab to estimate the number and types of species in the prairie. What a great way to enjoy the nice weather and participate in hands-on learning!
Congratulations to the Lincoln-Way Marching Band for their performance this past weekend at the Stagg Marching Jamboree. Lincoln-Way Competed in class 3A and was awarded 1st place in the Music, Visual, and Percussion captions areas as well as first place in class 3A and was also awarded the overall Grand Champion Award across all classes. The LWMB will compete again at the Prospect High School Knight of Champions on September 30th

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. Yesterday during advisory periods, students heard a presentation from Rogers Behavior Health with information on suicide awareness and prevention, as well as tips on distress tolerance techniques to use in a time of crisis.
Mrs. Gonzales-Jensen's Medical Anatomy & Physiology class went out to their first hospital visit of the school year. The class is designed to meet the needs of senior students who have a genuine interest in a health care occupation. This course will provide the student with a strong academic background in human anatomy and physiology as well as a practical hands-on experience in a clinic/hospital setting.

Students were learning from experience in Mr. Gast’s Welding 1 course yesterday at East. Thank you to Tom Doyle for visiting and providing students information from his years of knowledge in the field and experience training welding apprentices.
Thanks to Phillips Chevrolet in Frankfort, members of the East baseball and softball teams were able to spend some time with White Sox first baseman Andrew Vaughn last night.
Back-to-School Night was a success across the District. Parents found their way through their student's schedules and met with LW staff and teachers to get an idea of what the school day looks like. We are off to a great start to the school year!
Students in our Co-Op program heard from a variety of local businesses at the employer expo this morning! After a brief presentation about their open positions, students were able to network, apply and even interview for jobs on the spot. Thank you to our local businesses for not only participating in our expo, but also for providing these unique employment opportunities to our students.
School is in full swing, and we are already learning so much! Using tumble buggies, Mr. Lodes’ students at East were able to create and interpret a distance-time graph representing the motion of the buggy. Great job!
The first Lincoln-Way Marching Band performance of the season is this Saturday, August 26 at East. All Lincoln-Way families and community members are invited to attend a preview of the LWMB competitive show, Interstellar!
Gates open at 6pm for concessions and seating, and the performance begins at 7pm. Admission is free. Please join us for a great evening!
