Congratulations to these four students who represented Lincoln-Way Central High School at the 2023 Illinois Music Education Conference in Peoria, Illinois this past weekend:
Grace Douglas, Alto Voice, All-State Chorus
Perry Jackson, Tenor Voice, All-State Chorus
Catherine Prabish, Flute, All-State Band
David Shaw, Trumpet, Honors Band
They were selected from thousands of students across Illinois to represent District 1 of the Illinois Music Education Association. Their selection to the state conference was due to their excellent online auditions in October and their successful performances at the District 1 Festival held at Elmhurst University in November.
Our Lincoln-Way Central students participated in eighteen hours of rehearsals over two days, culminating in festival performances held at the Carver Ice Arena at the Peoria Civic Center. IMEC is attended by over 12,500 educators and performers annually.
"District 1 is an incredibly competitive district in which to win a spot at our district festival. Being invited to represent Lincoln-Way Central at our state music conference is a fantastic achievement that we hope these students will remember with pride for years to come," said Stacy Williams-Jackson, LWC music educator.
