Lincoln-Way Central High School is thrilled to announce Dave Woodburn as its new head varsity football coach. Woodburn has been a teacher and coach with Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 since 2002, most recently serving as a teacher and assistant varsity football coach at Central. We are excited to welcome him into his new role as the Knights head coach.
Before starting at Lincoln-Way, Woodburn was a teacher and coach at Providence Catholic High School, working under hall of fame coach Matt Senffner for three years. Upon joining District 210, he coached all levels of football, eventually serving as the co-defensive coordinator for the Lincoln-Way East varsity football team under Rob Zvonar. Woodburn coached at both Providence and Lincoln-Way East during championship runs.
Woodburn has also been actively involved in developing younger athletes as a youth coach for the Jr. Knights, Burros and Celtics over the past decade.
“My first priority is to build a quality staff that will help take the Knights to the next level,” said Woodburn. “I am also committed to creating an environment that gets young athletes in the community excited to play for Lincoln-Way Central.”
“His close connection to the community and history of coaching excellence across all levels of the game helped Dave stand out,” said Beth McNamara, Lincoln-Way Central principal. “We are happy to have a dedicated member of the Lincoln-Way family to lead the Knights on the field next season.”
