Lincoln-Way Central is proud to welcome Evan Wyllie as the new head varsity coach for the boys basketball team this season. Wyllie comes to the Knights after serving as assistant men’s basketball coach for the University of West Florida, as well as seven seasons of coaching high school basketball throughout Illinois.
Wyllie, who has no relation to the former Lincoln-Way superintendent, is excited to establish a new culture for the Knights basketball team: “We must begin changing the mindset from just playing hard to expecting to win. Even if success does not come immediately, coaches must preach the belief of future victory, hope, and belief in the program,” he said.
Bob Ward, incoming athletic director for Lincoln-Way Central, said, “We would like to congratulate and welcome our new head boys basketball coach, Coach Evan Wyllie. Coach Wyllie has experience as a high school head coach here in the state of Illinois and has also spent the last 3 years coaching as a D2 college coach. We are excited about his enthusiasm and dedication to propel our Knights boys basketball program to the next level.”
Wyllie grew up in Dwight, Illinois, and studied physical education at Southern Illinois University. He also holds a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Western Florida.
