Intro to Criminology students take on roles as lawyers, witnesses, and jury members in mock trials. Currently they are on their last trial – Lucy Durham. Special guests aka our faculty perform as witnesses to the crime.





LWE Interact visited Navarro Farms this past weekend to do some volunteer work which included shucking corn, sweeping and setting up for an event, and of course some adventures with goats.







The Students for HOPE had a successful blood drive. A total of 34 donors registered for the event. In all, 25 units were successfully collected. This means the event could potentially save 75 lives as each unit can be used to help 3 people. A BIG THANK YOU to all the donors!



Today we had a wonderful Senior Sendoff for our Special Service Life and Pathways students that are graduating. Once a Griffin, always a Griffin!





Read for a Lifetime
State of Illinois’ Reading Program
The LWE Media Center honored our seniors who earned state recognition today for the Read for a Lifetime State of Illinois’ Reading Program with a reception this morning. Nicholas Smithgall and Sierra Chojnacki (not pictured) earned the elite 100 Title Award by reading all 25 Titles, each of their 4 years of high school. They along with other ms earned a four year award for reading a minimum of four books each of their four years of high school.

Today, Human Anatomy & Physiology courses had an opportunity to participate in a live and interactive viewing of an open-heart surgery from Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in cooperation with the Museum of Science and Industry. #goeast

Today's early release presentation is aligned with April’s awareness month for Sexual Assault. In coordination with our prevention programs, Lincoln-Way East High School hosted guest speaker, Zoe Fisher. Zoe is a Preventionist-Supervisor at Guardian Angel Community Services. She will present Erin’s Law, sexual assault prevention education, and ways to establish and maintain healthy relationships.


A few senior Griffins attended Argonne's Science Careers in Search of Women. Students met with scientists and toured the facility. A big thanks to Ms. Premo for taking our students.




Congratulations to all of the students who have artwork being displayed in the East Spring Art Show this week. Students were celebrated on Tuesday evening's reception. A special congratulations to Jadyn Gillies who won the Purchase Award and will have her painting added to the permanent collection in the Auditorium lobby!





AP Stat students attended a review session Tuesday night to help prepare them for their AP exam.

Dance Marathon students had a great time hosting their event over the weekend at East. They had games, food, raffles, and fun while their guest speakers and families talked about their experience at Lurie's. They raised over $10,000 for Lurie Children's Hospital!
