SkillsUSA

East’s SkillsUSA club identified a goal of helping students explore different career paths this fall.  To meet that goal, members and guests toured 5 local business on their “Career Builder” field trip platform to learn about rewarding careers that local and in high demand.

Businesses visited included:

  • Illinois Tool Works (ITW) in Mokena

  • Mi-Jack in Hazel Crest

  • National Tube Supply in University Park

  • Altorfer Caterpillar in Mokena

  • Terry’s RV in Frankfort

Students received an up-close look at daily operation as well as received information on how to get hired and what skills sets are necessary in the industry.

“These Career Builders are an excellent way for students to get exposure to area employers.  For most of these careers, students would never have known about without SkillsUSA.   SkillsUSA members have this opportunity and that is what helps to make it so important for them,” said Daymon Gast SkillsUSA Advisor.

SkillsUSA is an exciting club that is available to any student in Lincoln-Way.   SkillsUSA students meet on a regular basis throughout the year.
