The Lincoln-Way Marching Band hosted a Community Showcase as part of the Tournament of Roses BandCares initiative on November 2nd. The LWMB presented their Hollywood-themed field show that will also be performed in California in less than two months.
As an admission fee to the event, attendees were asked to provide canned goods or other non-perishable items for the New Lenox Township Food Pantry. Volunteers from the Pantry were in attendance to collect donations, and the items nearly filled an entire van.
The donations will create a significant, positive impact on the community by providing food to those in need, but it also provided a valuable volunteer experience for some LW students. Those in our Life Skills classes at Central and West helped to sort and organize the donations so that they are ready for the community.
The LWMB is so thankful for all of the support that this school community has shown them this season, and are proud to have made such an impactful donation to the New Lenox Township Food Pantry. Don't forget to tune into the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day to see the LWMB in action!
