Six students from across Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 have been named National Merit Semifinalists by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. We would like to congratulate the following students:
Lincoln-Way East
Caleb Lee
Owen Valerius
Lincoln-Way Central
Conor Meehan
Jacob Sever
Lincoln-Way West
Ian Huskins
Emily Tigchelaar
Lincoln-Way also had many students recognized as ‘Commended’ by National Merit, and we are very proud of all our them for their hard work.
The 16,000 semifinalists nationwide will move on to compete for 6,870 National Merit Scholarships, that are worth nearly $26 million. The next step in the competition is to complete a detailed scholarship application that demonstrates their success both inside and outside the classroom. Students must also write an essay and earn an SAT or ACT score that reflects their performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
National Merit Scholarship finalists will be notified of their status in February, and scholarship winners will be announced between April and July.
