
The Lincoln-Way East Welding Fabrication team of Tori Hay, Brian Rooney and Nolan Trippiciho won 1st place in state amongst a crowd of 12 teams that qualified in this year's SkillsUSA state competition in Peoria April 28th -30th . The all senior team now has the opportunity to advance to Atlanta, Ga where they will be faced with an even larger project that is to be completed in 6 hours against state winners from across the Country.

District 210 Foundation for Educational Excellence’s “Up-Close Graduation Seat Auction” for 6 seats and a reserved parking pass is back this year, and will run from May 2 through May 13 at 8p.m.

“Building and Supporting Healthy Relationships” was held at West earlier this week The district partnered with New Lenox Safe Community Coalition to put on this great event. Students heard a presentation from Breann Fisher with Guardian Angel Community Services. Thanks to all the donations from our schools, attendees were able to assemble medical advocacy bags during the event.





Mr. Balluff invited representatives from Joliet Junior College to speak to LWC students about the Operations Engineering and Technician programs that are available. Thank you to Mr. Paul Cave and Mr. Michael Defronzo who spoke to a variety of sections including Physics, Physics Fundamentals, Earth Science, Physical Science, Educational Options, and Co-op. Educational opportunities for STEM jobs is practically at your back door!

Over the weekend, eight LWE Future Business Leaders of America students competed at the 73rd State Leadership Conference. Six of those students qualified for the National Leadership Conference that will be held in Chicago June 29-July 2! Below are the students who will represent East this summer.

Last weekend, LWC senior Caden Simone placed 1st in the 3200 meter run in 9:17.73. Caden took the lead in the 6th lap of the 16 laps and never let it go. He finished only two seconds off his personal best time. Caden become the 3rd Knight to win the 3200 meter race at the Illinois Prep Top Times Championships since the meet began in 1990.
Senior Jake Mackowiak placed 2nd in 6.83 meters which is 22' 5". Jake secured his 2nd place finish on his 5th jump; an indoor personal best performance. Jake became only the 2nd Knight to earn a medal in the Long Jump at the Illinois Prep Top Times Championships since the meet began in 1990.



Midwest Animal Hospital Veterinarian Dr. Sawa, Office Manager Danielle Higgenbotham and Dana the Great Dane came to explain Careers in Veterinary Science to the Pre-Vet Class at East last week.

LWC students in the Wind Ensemble had the amazing privilege of meeting and interviewing nationally recognized composer Dr. Kimberly Archer, who is the Professor of Composition at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. We performed one of her latest works, "Fanfare Politeia" on our last concert, and we are going to perform it again at a festival in April.
Dr. Archer discussed her career, compositional techniques, sources of inspiration, and what it was like having her composition receive its premiere performance at President Biden's Presidential Inauguration. What a great experience for the students!
