Congratulations to Señora Ruiz's AP Spanish 5 Literature students at West for being selected as one of the winning groups in the Chicagoland area Choral Reading Poetry Contest. Multiple judges awarded them a perfect score for their interpretation of Cuban author Nicolás Guillén's poem, Balada de los dos abuelos.
250 Lincoln-Way students were honored at a celebration of biliteracy on April 26th. The event recognized students who earned either the Seal of Biliteracy or the Commendation toward the Seal of Biliteracy, both of which require a high level of skill in English and a second language.
A love of language and cultural understanding is fostered beginning with the lower-level language courses, and that excitement continues as students progress through their high school career. The Seal is officially acknowledged once a student graduates and helps them to stand out when applying for college, scholarships, and employment.
This recognition is also awarded to EL students who demonstrate a proficiency in English as well as their first language.
Congratulations to all who were honored at the ceremony earlier this week! To learn more about the Seal of Biliteracy, visit the website: https://www.lw210.org/article/1093131
Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 would like to formally thank our outgoing Board members for their dedication to our district.
Beth Janus-Doyle (who joined the Board in 2017), Joseph A. Kirkeeng and Christopher M. Lucchetti (who both joined the Board in 2016) were part of a strong Board that was able to restore the fund balance and put policies in place to maintain positive financial progress for the District. This Board was also one of 33 to be recognized by the Illinois Association of School Boards for excellence in school board governance.
Once again, we want to thank our outgoing Board of Education members for their dedication to Lincoln-Way.

Not only is the team 11-1-2 so far this season, but they have also been collecting food pantry items to give back to the community.
