Lincoln-Way families,
On Friday, a court ruled against Governor Pritzker’s executive order requiring masks in schools. While Lincoln-Way was not named in the lawsuit, we do plan to follow the temporary restraining order that resulted from that case, making masks optional for staff, students, and visitors beginning on Monday, February 7th. This ruling also removes the quarantine requirement for close contact individuals, however, those who test positive are still required to isolate according to IDPH guidelines.
The Governor, IDPH and ISBE intend to appeal the court ruling on the temporary order. Whatever decision is made on that appeal will have implications for all school districts in Illinois, so any decision coming from that appeal will be enforced by Lincoln-Way. That next decision is expected by February 17th. We will continue to monitor further developments in the courts.
Federal law requires masks to be worn while on public transportation, so students and bus drivers are still required to mask while on buses to and from school.
This decision makes masking optional, so we encourage you to make the most appropriate choice for yourself and your family.
We appreciate your support, patience, and understanding during this time.
