ACADEMIC DEPARTMENTS

Lincoln-Way’s 14 Academic Departments house over 400 teachers and offer a wide range of class choices for our students. Our core departments (English, Social Science, Science, and Mathematics) offer not only outstanding required courses, but we also present many creative and unique class options for students with special interests. Our Reading Program continues to offer courses that have received local, statewide, and national recognition for creativity and excellence in education.

The Physical Education, Health, and Driver’s Education department serves almost all of the Lincoln-Way students, providing guidance on healthy lifestyles and healthy choices. Our Air Force Junior ROTC units provide students with opportunities to not only learn, but to serve in our schools and community.

Our growing and vibrant Fine Arts department include many Visual Art classes that range from drawing and painting to photography and technology-based art work. The Music programs are nationally recognized, and we offer superb classes in vocal and instrumental music.

Our World Language department continues to grow in opportunities and quality, as we continue to be a state leader in Language Learning. We continue to excel at producing students who are fluent in language, and over 200 Lincoln-Way students have been honored with the State’s Seal of Bi-literacy over the past few years alone.

The Elective Areas (Business, Family and Consumer Science, Career and Technology) are growing rapidly, as we prepare students for life and work beyond Lincoln-Way. We have more than 40 elective options for students in these three content areas alone.

Our Special Services courses provide educational opportunities for a wide range of students, and we offer individualized and collaborative classes in most of the content areas to provide a great learning environment for all students.

This website will include information on course descriptions and curricular pathways for each department. We encourage you to take some time and look through the unit plans, the course descriptions, and the curricular pathways that are presented on this academic department website.
