Every year, students in Mrs. Valkema’s Freshman Seminar classes write a letter to the author about the book they have chosen for Sustained Silent Reading. These letters are then entered in to the ‘Illinois Center for the Book, Letters for Literature.’ The contest is sponsored by the Illinois Center for the Book – an affiliate of the Library of Congress, The Illinois State Library, and the Illinois Secretary of State whose duties include Illinois Librarian. The focus for the letters is ‘How did the author’s work change your view of the world or yourself’.
We are proud to announce that fifty-two of our students received the recognition of Honorable Mention or Semi-Finalist. A special congratulations to two additional students, Addy Griffith and Evert Alvarado, who were chosen as Finalists!
We are proud of Joe Stephens who was named the Lincoln-Way West Teacher of the Year! Mr. Stephens is a Math teacher who continually goes above and beyond to help his students succeed.
A historic season for our baseball team comes to an end tonight after a 5-1 loss in the Super-Sectional Championship. We are proud of our Warriors and how they represented Lincoln-Way West all throughout the season!

The IHSA Super-Sectional Championships are Monday, June 6th at Ozinga Field! The Warriors will be playing in the 4A baseball game that is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm.
