Lincoln-Way West hosts National Letter of Intent Signing Ceremony for student-athletes Wednesday, February 6, 2013
Lincoln-Way West High School Athletic Department recognized five student athletes at the signing ceremony for National Athletic Letter of Intent Day held in the Warriors' Lodge, on Wednesday, February 6, at Lincoln-Way West High School, New Lenox.
"We are excited to recognize 5 outstanding student athletes who are making the commitment to continue their education and athletic careers at the collegiate level," stated Ted Robbins, West Athletic Director.
Student-athletes are: Football: Matt Galounis attending Robert Morris University, Illinois; Derek Gurnea attending Lindenwood University-St. Charles, Missouri; Colin McGovern, attending University of Notre Dame, Indiana; Swimming is Emily Gallagher attending Grand Valley State University in Michigan; and Diving is Alexis Skiniotes attending Missouri State University, Missouri.
"They all have been an integral part of not only their teams, but also of Lincoln-Way West and continued success of our school and athletic program. We appreciate all of the time, effort, and determination they have displayed to become leaders within our school and as the face of the entire athletic department. They represent Lincoln-Way West not only in conference, regional, sectional and state competitions, but also as leaders in our school and community," stated Robbins speaking to a crowd of students, families, friends, faculty, coaches and members of the sports teams.
Dr. Monica Schmitt, principal thanked the parents for all their support their students and Lincoln-Way West.
"Your enthusiastic support of the students, coaches, tams, and the school enable all of us to experience the thrill and excitement of high school athletics," she said.
Coaches for the student athletes are Dave Ernst, head football coach and Kristen Neuberg, head coach for swimming and diving.
