L-W East to host baseball clinic for coaches Thursday, January 24, 2013
Baseball coaches and parents of youth baseball players are invited to attend a free coaching clinic Feb. 9 at Lincoln-Way East High School, 201 Colorado Ave., Frankfort
The clinic, which will be led by baseball coaches from the high school, will offer tips on how to teach kids how to hit, pitch and field. Participants also will discuss practice design, ideas for age-appropriate drills and how to diagnose problems in players.
The goal is to provide continuity in coaching styles and to assist student athletes as they grow.
"This clinic is unique because it has several stations that are interactive," said Lincoln-Way East baseball coach Paul Babcock, whose school has been offering the free clinic each year since 1999. "Feeder program coaches can participate in drills as they are being demonstrated."
This year's clinic will be held from 8 a.m. until noon Feb. 9 in the main gym at Lincoln-Way East High school. Sign-in starts at 7:30 a.m.
