A LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT…

Dear Parents and Students,

The 2008-2009 school year brings to all of us new and exciting things. Student achievement is what both high schools are about. Everything we do at school and at home leads to improved academic performance. Whether our graduates are college-bound or going into the workforce, we want them to feel confident that they can compete with anyone, knowing they have been prepared superbly to become active, successful, contributing citizens of our country.

The Parent-Student Handbook contains information on the day-to-day operation of our schools. This booklet has been approved by the Board of Education, and I would recommend both parents and students read it from cover to cover, as it is board policy.

The school district believes strongly in the Asset Program, as well. It is an attempt by the schools, the parents, the communities, and the churches to provide an environment for students to build their assets. Research shows the more support assets a student has, the less at risk they become.

Lastly, I want to thank you, parents, for the tremendous support you have provided. It is due to your support that we are able to enjoy our current level of excellence. Your help also has allowed us to provide additional ways to help your sons and daughters maximize their academic and social growth.

It is my wish that the 2008-2009 school year be the best year you have ever experienced. Should you have any questions, please refer to the listing of telephone numbers provided in this handbook. Have a great year!

Regards,

Lawrence A. Wyllie
Superintendent
