Eleven Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 employees,
including a building principal, science teacher, instructional
technology coordinator and team of business office personnel,
were recognized at the July school board meeting for going above
and beyond the call of duty to serve students.
“The recognition program is designed to honor Lincoln-Way employees for
their outstanding contributions in helping to make Lincoln-Way High School District
210 a special place for students,” said Superintendent Lawrence A. Wyllie.
Those selected to receive the Destination Excellence awards have contributed “above
and beyond a person’s expected job performance,” he added.
Fifty Destination Excellence Awards have been presented to Lincoln-Way personnel
since the recognition program was introduced in 2002. Past recipients have included
the cafeteria staff at Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln Way East high schools
as well as members of the Lincoln-Way Central Road to Reality Team.
Recipients are nominated by staff members and then reviewed by several committees
that submit their recommendations to the school board and superintendent for
consideration. They look for the following criteria in employees: how they contribute
to an improved school climate and/or how they have helped foster an atmosphere
that develops improved student achievement.
Those selected to receive this year’s Destination Excellence awards were:
Lincoln-Way Central instructional technology coordinator Brian Miller who has
helped teachers integrate technology into their classrooms; Lincoln-Way East
science teacher Scott McCreary who is the driving force behind the Lincoln-Way
Prairie Project; and Lincoln-Way North Principal Michael Gardner who is helping
students transition from being a Lincoln-Way Griffin to a Lincoln-Way Phoenix
with the opening of a new school.
Also receiving Destination Excellence awards was the District 210 business office
team of Kathy Englert, Sue Fennell, Carol Foster, Mary Kazier, Darlene Klimkiewicz,
Jill Linkous, Linda Stone and Angela Yolich.
“Student achievement is what Lincoln-Way is all about, “said Wyllie. “To
offer our students the best, we have to have the best board of education, teachers,
support staff and administration.”
