Lincoln-Way East students participate in National Signing Day Ceremony

On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, student-athletes were honored in the Griffins’ Lair at Lincoln-Way East High School. The Signing Day Ceremony is an event that recognizes student-athletes who have committed to play a sport at the collegiate level.

Teachers, coaches, staff, friends, and family of the students were in attendance; Athletic Director Mark Vander Kooi presented.

“College signing day is a proud day for our school and athletic program, our coaches and teammates, the families, and of course, our student-athletes,” said Vander Kooi.

The 40 student-athletes honored included:

• Dorian Aluyi, who will compete in basketball at Minot State University
• Ololade Ayoola, who will compete in track and field at the University of Illinois
• Jake Arthur, who will compete in football at Illinois Wesleyan University
• Matt Blaney, who will compete in baseball at the University of Texas-Dallas
• Sidney Bloomfield, who will compete in softball at George Washington University
• Andrew Brozovic, who will compete in water polo at Iona College
• Dylan Conway, who will compete in wrestling at Harper Junior College
• Will Driver, who will compete in volleyball at Concordia University-Wisconsin
• Ava Eggert, who will compete in soccer at Robert Morris University
• Liam Elsden, who will compete in soccer at Bellarmine University
• Rebekah Harden, who will compete in track and field at the University of Detroit Mercy
• Noah Healy, who will compete in cross country and track at the University of Iowa
• Spencer Hein, who will compete in soccer at McMurray College
• Jake Henstein, who will compete in track and field at Indiana Wesleyan University
• Olivia Heppeler, who will compete in lacrosse at St. Mary’s College-Indiana
• Nicole Humenik, who will compete in track and field at Illinois State University
• Megan Hussey, who will compete in cheerleading at Illinois State University
• Sarah Jackson, who will compete in swimming at Indiana Wesleyan University
• Lauren LaDere, who will compete in track and field at the University of Massachusetts
• Michael LaPapa, who will compete in football at Illinois Wesleyan University
• Cailin Merck, who will compete in swimming at Ball State University
• Michaela Mitchell, who will compete in swimming at the University of Miami (Ohio)
• Renee Murphy, who will compete in softball at the University of Wisconsin-Stout
• Sam Myers, who will compete in track and field at Illinois State University
• David Nino, who will compete in cross country and track at Moraine Valley Community College
• Jake Pomykalski, who will compete in baseball at the University of Illinois-Chicago
• Joe Prestamer, who will compete in baseball at Illinois Wesleyan University
• Jimmy Quinn, who will compete in baseball at South Suburban Community College
• Terrin Rackouski, who will compete in wrestling at the University of Dubuque
• Nicole Schipiour, who will compete in cheerleading at Grand Valley State University
• Tessa Sellentin, who will compete in lacrosse at Elmhurst College
• Jake Simpson, who will compete in lacrosse at Illinois Wesleyan University
• Ben Skolak, who will compete in track and field at Olivet Nazarene University
• Jake Snyder, who will compete in volleyball at St. Ambrose University
• Daniel Stewart, who will compete in football and track at St. Ambrose University
• Jason Szara, who will compete in volleyball at Augustana University
• Olivia Velzquez, who will compete in track and field at Savannah College of Arts and Design
• CJ Wilson-Richmond, who will compete in football at Quincy University
• Maddy Zednick, who will compete in track and field at Butler University
• Matt Zuccato, who will compete in tennis at St. Ambrose University

While we are sorry to see our seniors go, we are excited for what lies ahead for them in college. We know that you will continue to represent Lincoln-Way and your families with pride at your respective colleges.”
