Lincoln-Way High Schools participate in 2016 JJC Area High School Art ExhibitionTuesday, November 8, 2016
During the month of October, area high schools were invited to submit up to five pieces of student artwork per school to the 2016 JJC Area High School Art Exhibition. This year, 119 works from 24 high schools were submitted. From this group of works, the full-time Joliet Junior College Studio Art Faculty selected 21 students to be recognized for outstanding achievement. All participating artists will receive a Certificate of Recognition, and the 21 recipients of the Award of Excellence will receive engraved plaques.
Lincoln-Way Central, Lincoln-Way East and Lincoln-Way West each submitted five pieces of student artwork to the show. From the 21 awards presented, two Lincoln-Way students were recognized with Awards of Excellence for outstanding achievement. Lincoln-Way Central student Kayla Ray was given an award for her photograph and Lincoln-Way West student Emily Davis was recognized with an award for her scratchboard drawing.
"The JJC Area High School Art Exhibition is a great show that showcases amazing artwork from high school students each year,” says Art Department Chair, Phil Labriola. “We are very proud of Emily Davis and Kayla Ray for being recognized with awards, and we want to congratulate all of our students who have work in the show."
The show can be seen at Joliet Junior College in Building J of the Laura Sprague Art Gallery. The dates of the show are November 7 through November 23, and November 28 through December 9. An Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, December 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre. The ceremony will be held on the first floor of Building K.
