Lincoln-Way East Girls Track and Field Class 3A won their fourth straight state championship title on Saturday, May 21. The event was held at Eastern Illinois University, where the girls scored 83 points; the next closest school was Alton, with 37 points.

"It was a great day in Charleston, as our team showed their true depth by winning the state title with so many contributors to our record 83 points. True teamwork," said Athletic Director, Mark Vander Kooi.

Lincoln-Way East finished first in the 4x1, 4x2, and 4x4 relays.

Head Coach, Brian Evans, commented, "We are very excited about winning the fourth consecutive title. It was the most points we have ever scored at the state meet in school history, and to have every facet of track and field represented in the state finals made this very special for the team."

On Sunday morning, the team celebrated with a parade through Frankfort and Mokena, complete with firetrucks. Following the parade, the presentation of the trophy was made in the Lincoln-Way East auditorium.

"It meant a lot being with my teammates and the other seniors, going out with a win at state. I appreciate the support of all the coaches," said senior, Jasmine Howell.
