Tuesday, September 29, 2015

Lincoln-Way East hosted a special induction ceremony for the more than 30 students selected for the international Tri-M Music Honor Society.

The honor society recognizes students for both academic and musical accomplishments. It also aims to inspire music students to pursue leadership opportunities.

Lincoln-Way East tends to have a good number of students selected for Tri-M because our music program places a strong emphasis on students academic growth, said Bert Johnson, East Music Department Chair. Congratulations to our 2015 Tri-M students for this outstanding musical accolade.

In addition to the recent Tri-M Music Honor Society Induction, Lincoln-Way Easts Marching Griffins have continued to place high during the beginning of the bands competitive season.

Last weekend, the Marching Griffins took third place in their class 3A at the Bands of America Regional Invitational in Ohio and ninth place in the regional finals.

The Marching Griffins ninth place finish was among all classes, including several championship bands from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, New York and Ohio.

This marks the 14th regional finals appearance in 15 seasons for the East Marching Griffins, said Johnson. I am very proud of our students for giving every competition their best effort.
