Lincoln-Way East High School kicks off Homecoming Week today and students will participate in daily homecoming festivities to show their Griffin pride. This years theme is East Ave. Beach.

More than 60 teams of students will compete throughout the week, earning points for participating in Homecoming events, for a chance to win the Homecoming Olympics Championship.

The goal of Homecoming is for students to have fun and show their Griffin pride all week long, said Easts Asset and Activities Coordinator Jayson Polad.

Students will participate in themed dress days including Pajama Day on Monday and Jersey Day on Tuesday. On Color Wars Wednesday, freshmen will wear yellow, sophomores purple, juniors green, seniors red and staff pink. Students will wear their favorite beach gear for Tiki Thursday and show their East Side pride by wearing black and blue on Friday.

During the popular Homecoming Olympics on Wednesday evening, students will take to the stadium field for a competition full of relay races and other team challenges.

Students can also earn participation points for attending the girls home volleyball game, girls tennis match and girls swimming and diving match on Tuesday.

Homecoming week events have been planned by Student Council members, Student Council co-sponsors Mrs. Laura Rycyna and Mrs. Laura Render, and Activities and Asset Coordinator Jayson Polad. Easts Student Council President is Rose Fialkowski.
