Lincoln-Way East girls volleyball is hosting a series of special events during their home volleyball matches all for a good cause.

On September 29, East girls volleyball will host its annual Pack the Place for their match against Lincoln-Way North.

On October 6, the team will celebrate its annual Teacher Appreciation match against Lockport. East girls volleyball players will present their favorite teachers with an apple of appreciation. The evening will conclude with a yogurt social.

We want to show our teachers how much we appreciate their dedication in the classroom and value all they do to help us excel academically, said Linda Vivona, Head Girls Volleyball Coach at Lincoln-Way East.

The annual Volley for the Cure match against Joliet West will take place on October 8. Both teams will wear pink jerseys. East girls volleyball players are selling Gone Camo for a Cure shirts during their lunch periods and will sell baked goods at the event to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation For The Cure in the fight against breast cancer. Cancer fighters and survivors are invited to attend and be recognized at the event; each will receive a flower as a sign of support.

These events are a small way that our team can spread positive energy and use our talents for a good cause, Vivona said.

For Parent Night, East plays Sandburg on October 14 and Senior Night is against Stagg on October 22.

The varsity team at East includes: Kate Bruder, Val Connolly, Allie DeRubertis, Sarah Dobrich, Kailey Hackett, Molly Hackett, Becca Lilley, Lindsey Paulsen, Mel Weller, and Cassidy Wyman.
