Thursday, September 17, 2015

Lincoln-Way Central High School will celebrate Homecoming next week and students are excited to participate in longtime traditions as well as some new additions.

Students will show their spirit with a week of dress days around the Homecoming theme, A Knight at the Cinema. Students will wear pajamas in honor of the movie Sleeping Beauty, athletic gear for the movie Sandlot, band and concert t-shirts for the movie School of Rock, and red and black Knight spirit wear on Friday.

Homecoming is always an exciting time of year and our students are ready for the fun of the Olympics, the dance, the football game and all of the other school activities planned, said Dr. Steve Provis, Lincoln-Way Central Principal.

Centrals Road to Reality will be held September 22 and is open to students and parents to learn about the consequences of underage drinking and drug use. High school students, community organizations and emergency personnel participate by role-playing scenes along the "Road" beginning with a teen party where students are drinking and make the unwise decision to get into a car.

On September 23, hundreds of students will take part in the popular Homecoming Olympics of team relay races including cardboard boat relays in the swimming pool.

Homecoming week continues with a pep assembly on Friday, September 25 where the king and queen will be announced, followed by a football game against Thornwood High School on Friday evening.

On Saturday, September 26, the community is invited to enjoy the schools annual Homecoming Parade which takes off at noon from Martino Junior High, continues east on Joliet Highway to Schoolhouse Road and ends at Lincoln-Way Central.

The Homecoming Dance is Saturday evening in the schools field house from 7 to 10 p.m. Chicago B96 Boom will deejay the dance for the first time.
