Lincoln-Way Central Marching Knights Rehearse for 2015 Season
Monday, August 10, 2015

The Lincoln-Way Central Marching Knights spent five days of band camp at St. Josephs College in Rensselaer, Indiana last week and invested long hours this week inside and outside on Centrals stadium field in preparation for the 2015 season.

At the conclusion of band camp, students will march in the Gladiolus Festival Parades in Momence Illinois on August 7-8 and perform a Parent Preview at the Lincoln-Way Central Stadium on August 15.

During band camp, students spent their time learning marching and music performance fundamentals, participating in physical therapy, and rehearsing drill and music for the 2015 production.

This years show Sport of the Future features music from Samuel Barbers First Symphony as well as excerpts from the film Tron: Legacy and the track Run Boy Run by Woodkid.

The show tells the story of an Olympic-type contest with props that create different arenas in each movement. Several soloists will share the story of an underdog competitor who overcomes adversity.

The Marching Knights are especially excited for this years show because of the outstanding combination of historical and modern day musical numbers and the impressive design components, said Chris Mroczek, Lincoln-Way Central Band Director.

Our generous Music Booster parents have constructed very cool props that set the stage for a great season, Mroczek said. Our dedicated students have put in so much time and energy into rehearsal over the summer, committing to several 12-hour practices. Weve experienced tremendous progress and growth during band camp.

The community can watch the Marching Knights perform at all Friday night home football games. Upcoming competitions include Morton, IL on September 19, Andrew High School on October 3, the Lincoln-Way Home Show on October 10, Illinois State on October 17, Downers Grove High School on October 25, and University of Illinois on October 31.
