L-W North hosts Future Phoenix Science Family Night
Friday, January 30, 2015

Future Lincoln-Way North High School students are invited to learn about biology, physics, earth science and chemistry during its 4rd annual Future Phoenix Science Family Night at the school on Thursday, February 19 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The intent of this evening is to introduce and invite the young children in Summit Hill 161 and their teachers to join us for the event, noted Maria Wilson, NBCT Science, and Science department chair.

Lincoln-Way North science teachers will be leading youngsters grades K-6 in a series of 20-minute sessions and experiments with the help of students in the high schools Environmental Action Club, Science Club, and Science National Honor Society.

This is the fourth year science instructors have held the Future Phoenix Science Family Night. It is modeled after the schools Future Phoenix Family Reading Night, which was developed by colleagues a few years ago.

The grade school aged children will be grouped according to age and will be ushered through the various demonstrations in biology, physics, earth science and chemistry. After the sessions there will be refreshments and a raffle.

Parents/guardians must stay in the building for the entire program. They are asked to park in front of the school and enter through the front doors.

Due to space, only the first 100 students may participate. For more information, or to register for the February 19 program, contact Maria Wilson at mawilson@lw210.org . The Science department would like reservations made by February 13.
