Thursday, May 28, 2015

The Lincoln-Way Central Softball program was very busy during their spring season playing softball and volunteering their time in support of the New Lenox Township Food Pantry.

The Knights softball program collected over 425 items of food at their home games during the month of May. All donations went to the local food pantry.

The Lincoln-Way Knights varsity softball team finished a very success season capturing the SWSC Red championship (12-2) and going 25-10 overall.

While capturing a conference championship and winning twenty-five softball games is impressive, even more impressive is the girls commitment to service, stated Jeff Tarala, head coach and social science teacher.

He continued, This is an incredible group of young ladies that were excited to help those in need in the community. Its a testament to these young ladies character and compassion to take on this food drive during their season. We are extremely proud of them. We are proud of them as softball players, but more importantly as quality young ladies.

Varsity team members are: Abigail Baez, Jackie Farbak, Melanie Bakotic, Bree Schultz, Brianna Paulsen, Naidelyn Medina, Courtney Barrett, Courtney Kinney, Allison Wesel, Alyssa Klahn, Colleen McLaughlin, Natalie Campbell, Nicole Rote, and Kaleigh Bateman.

The JV softball team finished the year 23-21 and the freshman were 18-5.
