Lincoln-Way Students Win Awards in 2020 Scholastic Art CompetitionWednesday, January 29, 2020
Students in Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 competed in the 2020 Scholastic Art Competition this past week. The Scholastic Art Show is the most recognized and prestigious high school art exhibition in the nation. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards have an impressive legacy dating back to 1923, and a noteworthy roster of past winners including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, and Joyce Carol Oates.
In our region, more than 40 area schools submitted 2,188 works of art with only 638 pieces awarded and accepted into the show.
Lincoln-Way students were recognized with 34 awards for their outstanding artwork. Thirteen of those were given Gold Key Awards, 13 Silver Awards, and eight Honorable Mention Awards. Gold Key Award winners’ work will advance to New York to compete at the national level.
“The Scholastic Art Competition is a highly competitive show and it is a very high honor for all of the students that received awards this year,” said Phil Labriola, District Art Department Chairperson. “The Art faculty is extremely proud of how hard our students work and we love to see their talents recognized in the Scholastic Art Competition each year.”

All awarded works will be displayed in the Regional Show. The reception will be held Sunday, February 2, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Downers Grove North High School, 4436 Main St., Downers Grove, 60515. The show will be open for viewing from Monday, February 3 – Friday, February 7.
