AFJROTC Awards Banquet
Tuesday, May 21, 2019

The Lincoln-Way Central and West Air Force Junior ROTC unit celebrated its annual awards banquet on May 4, 2019, at the New Lenox American Legion. The highlight of the evening were the cadets themselves who were honored with Unit, State, and National level awards. State and National Awards are sponsored by local Chapters of their group and members were invited to attend the banquet with the students and present their awards in person.

In addition to honoring the cadets for their achievements, the AFJROTC honored Retired Colonel Paul Thomas for his service in the military. Col. Thomas worked with B-17s during World War II before enrolling in medical school. After medical school he later served as a Surgeon during Vietnam. Col. Thomas spoke to the kids about freedom in the United States and how many people fought, and continue to show their patriotism by serving their country in many ways.
