Lincoln-Way East Exemplary Student Research Program Experimentation DayThursday, March 14, 2019
On March 13, the Lincoln-Way East Exemplary Student Research Program group spent the day preparing and testing their iron supplement samples at Argonne National Laboratory. The team was looking for the degradation of iron supplements.
“The number of learning opportunities in an experience like this is hard to measure,” said Benjamin Voliva, Chemistry teacher at Lincoln-Way East. “I like the in-depth exploration into chemistry and physics curriculum that is unique to an Argonne type of experience. However the interpersonal interactions, paperwork requirements, procedural details, and real life safety concerns imprint into the minds of the participants and makes them instantly professional.”
In May, the students will present their findings at a research symposium.
