Lincoln-Way East Coach Named NFHS Illinois Boys Volleyball Coach of the Year Tuesday, November 27, 2018
The National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Association has named Lincoln-Way East’s Kristopher Fiore “2018 Illinois Boys Volleyball Coach of the Year!”
The Griffin’s finished their 2018 season with a 39-3 record, undefeated SWSC Conference Champions, and IHSA State Champions. They also were ranked seventh in the nation by Max Preps.
“We are proud of Kris and his commitment to excellence in his program,” said Lincoln-Way East Athletic Director Mark Vander Kooi. “The State Championship and this prestigious award are the results of his daily commitment to making the volleyball program amongst the best. His ability to coach his kids and keep them focused in the big match is high level.”
"It is an absolute honor to be recognized by the National Federation of High Schools as the 2018 Illinois Boys volleyball Coach of the Year,” said Fiore. “I have had the opportunity to play for and coach under some fantastic people in the volleyball coaching world. They have had a profound impact on the coach I am today. Additionally our program could not have accomplished what we have the past few seasons without the tremendous support from our assistant coaches, athletic department, and community. Last of all, I would like to thank the East volleyball players. Your hard work, dedication, and success on the court provides the coaching staff opportunities to receive recognition such as this."
Fiore will go on to represent Illinois in the NFHS sectional “Coach of the Year” awards. The NFHS will recognize a total of 667 coaches with state, sectional and national awards.
