On July 19, 2018, Volleyball Magazine named Lincoln-Way East Head Boys Volleyball, Coach Kris Fiore, as the “Boys’ High School Coach of the Year.“

Fiore has coached Lincoln-Way East Boys Volleyball for nearly a decade, and has coached the girls team for the last two years. Although the boys team lost to Glenbard West High School in the 2017 state final, this year, the Griffins took first.

“Congratulations to Coach Fiore on this honor,” said Lincoln-Way East Athletic Director, Mark Vander Kooi. “He had consistently coached his teams to high levels and had developed one of the best programs in the state. Kris’s rapport with his student-athletes and his ability to maintain his team’s focus and confidence through adversity is why his teams perform so well in the big matches. We are very happy for Kris.”
