Lincoln-Way Central Social Science Department names Students of the Year
Friday, May 18, 2018

Since 2007, the Lincoln-Way Central Social Science Department has gathered to honor seniors who exemplify integrity, hard work, fun and love of history. Each spring, students and staff gather to recognize and celebrate these outstanding students.

On the morning of Wednesday, May 16, 2018, the Social Science Students of the Year were named. Students honored included seniors Adrienne Braico, Chase Heisner, Sydney Samoska and winner Mary Zopf.

Social Science teachers and Principal Dr. Steve Provis greeted students as they arrived to receive their awards. After eating breakfast, teachers honored the four seniors with a brief history of each student’s experiences and hard work throughout their time at Lincoln-Way Central.

Although each student’s experience in social science was different, teachers spoke of all four seniors’ innate curiosity and desire to learn. At the conclusion of the speeches, teachers honored the students with specific books to cater to their individual interests.

“Each of these students has shown their love and passion for learning. Their love of the Social Sciences has inspired their teachers and classmates each and every day,” says Social Science Department Chair Marty Dykas. “We wish each of them the best.”
