Friday, May 4, 2018

On Wednesday, May 2, 2018, student-athletes were honored in the Griffins’ Lair of Lincoln-Way East High School. The National Signing Day Ceremony is an event that recognizes student-athletes who have committed to play a sport at the collegiate level.

Teachers, coaches, staff, friends, and family of the students were in attendance; Athletic Director Mark Vander Kooi presented.

“Roughly five percent of all high school athletes have the opportunity to compete in college athletics, so these student-athletes are among elite company,” said Vander Kooi. “They have led our athletic program to one of the most successful years in school history, and we are proud of their commitment and effort.”

In combination with previous signing ceremonies throughout the 2017-2018 school year, a total of 60 student-athletes in the Class of 2018 committed to play athletics at the collegiate level. The Spring National Signing Day accounted for 33 of the 60.
