Lincoln-Way Central athletes celebrate National Signing Day

On Wednesday, May 2, 2018, Knight student-athletes were honored in the Lee F. Rosenquist Auditorium at Lincoln-Way Central High School. The National Signing Day Ceremony is an event that recognizes student-athletes who have committed to play a sport at the collegiate level.

Teachers, coaches, staff, friends, and family of the students were in attendance; Athletic Director Matthew Lyke presented.
“Through hard work in athletics and academics, you have been granted the opportunity to pursue your dreams” said Lyke. “As we are sad to see our seniors go, we are excited about your future in college athletics.”

Twenty student-athletes were honored.
• Nick DeGregorio will participate in football at Illinois Wesleyan University.
• Mark O’Reilly will participate in football at Concordia University-St. Paul.
• Matt Granberry will participate in football at Robert Morris University-Chicago.
• Sam Pipiras will participate in football at Wabash College.
• Matt Pollack will participate in football at Northern Illinois University.
• Danny Jones will participate in football at Elmhurst College.
• Jake Pott will participate in football at University of St. Francis.
• Liam Markham will participate in football at St. Ambrose University.
• Alec Robustelli will participate in football at John Carroll University.
• E.J. Charles will participate in golf at University of St. Francis.
• Joe Claffy will participate in volleyball at Robert Morris University-Chicago.
• Aiden McGuire will participate in volleyball at Culver Stockton College.
• Ricky Wesel will participate in bowling at Lewis University.
• Trevor Amir will participate in bowling at St. Xavier University.
• Devin Smith will participate in baseball at Triton College.
• Nate Davis will participate in baseball at Triton College.
• Jake Blount will participate in baseball at Concordia University-Wisconsin.
• Brandon Bennitt will participate in baseball at Illinois Institute of Technology.
• Lauren Limpin will participate in soccer at St. Ambrose University.
• Kamryn Murphy will participate in softball at Saint Xavier University.

After announcing all students and their plans for the future, Lyke thanked those in attendance and addressed the athletes once more. “We know you will dedicate yourselves as you prepare for the next phase of your life,” he said. “You will carry your Knight memories with you forever. Dreams have been fulfilled…You are truly deserving.”
