The President’s Own Marine Band Jazz Combo performs at Lincoln-WayTuesday, March 20, 2018
On Monday, March 19, 2018, the Lincoln-Way District 210 jazz band students were treated to a special performance by The President's Own Marine Band Jazz Combo from Washington, D.C. The performance took place at Lincoln-Way Central High School in the Fine Arts Center.
Double bassist Master Sergeant Glenn Dewey, guitarist Master Sergeant Alan Prather, Pianist Gunnery Sergeant AnnaMaria Mottola and percussionist Staff Sergeant David Constantine presented an educational clinic highlighting the various styles of music that they have been asked to perform at functions in and around The White House under many presidential administrations.
Master Sergeant Dewey, prior to his appointment with The President's Own in 1994, was a music professor at Millikin University to Lincoln-Way music instructors Stacy Williams-Jackson and Nate Jackson.
"We are so proud to know Professor Dewey, and it was an absolute honor to meet his colleagues in The President's Own,” says Williams-Jackson. “This combo represents the pinnacle of musicianship in the United States, and each musicians' experiences with The President's Own are both fascinating and inspiring.”
Master Sergeant Dewey praised Lincoln-Way Central's beautiful and acoustically impressive Fine Art Center as well as District 210’s "attentive students with great questions and passion for music."
“How wonderful for our Lincoln-Way students to have the opportunity to witness four of our nation's best musicians perform and discuss their service,” says Williams-Jackson.
