Friday, February 16, 2018

Members of the Lincoln-Way East Theatre Company will present “Almost, Maine” on March 2- 3, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the Lincoln-Way East Auditorium, located at 201 Colorado Avenue in Frankfort, Illinois. “Almost, Maine” is the selection for Contest Play, 2018 and features a talented cast and crew of more than 40 students from all grades.

On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend—almost—in this delightful mid-winter comedy.

“Students have been working hard rehearsing, preparing and building this show,” says Director Patrick Spreadbury. “’Almost, Maine’ is a series of loosely intertwined scenes about love and loss that take place over one night in a fictional Maine town. As a director, it can be a challenge to find plays for a younger audience that are smart, funny and relatable. I feel like ‘Almost, Maine’ is one of those shows. It has an innocence without being a naive. This piece is also a great challenge to prepare for the SWSC and IHSA Contest Play festivals because of the set, lighting, sound and special effects required. All of these elements have come together with the work of the very talented cast and crew to create a great piece of theatre.”

Tickets for both performances of “Almost, Maine” are $5, and are available at the door beginning 45 minutes before the show. Customers can pay with cash or check. Doors will open 30 minutes before show time and all seating is general admission.

"It's been such an enriching and fun experience working with this cast,” says cast member Grace Arnold. “They're all so talented and we've all grown so close so fast. I can wait for everyone to see the final product!”
