Lincoln-Way Foundation to host 2nd Annual Half Marathon
Monday, December 11, 2017
The Lincoln-Way High School Foundation will host its 2nd Annual Lincoln-Way Half Marathon on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 7 a.m. Registration is now open for those who are interested. Current registration is $70.00, and can be found at lincolnwayhalfmarathon.com.
The race, planned for next year, will begin and end in the beautiful historic district of downtown Frankfort. The race will start at 123 Kansas Street, the Breidert Green in downtown Frankfort, and go on the Old Plank Trail and run westward. After 2.7 miles of running on the scenic, tree-lined Old Plank Trail, the racers will turn off into the Hickory Creek Forest Preserve. The rolling hills of the forest preserve will provide a picturesque tour for the runners as they reach the halfway and turn-around point in the race. The runners will then proceed back through the forest preserve and to the Old Plank Trail for their final journey towards the finish line and the post-race awards on the Breidert Green.
Volunteers are an integral part of making this event a success. If you would like to help out with the race, please sign up to volunteer at lincolnwayhalfmarathon.com. This is also a great opportunity for students to receive community service hours.
“We’d love to sell out this race this year. Now through the end of December, we’ll offer $5.00 off registration when runners use the promo code DECEMBER17,” says Stacie McGlone, Lincoln-Way Half Marathon sponsor.
