Lincoln-Way East to host Girls Varsity Basketball Medieval Classic
Monday, December 11, 2017
Lincoln-Way East High School will host their annual Girls Varsity Basketball Medieval Classic on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 through Friday, December 19, 2017. Participating teams include Andrew High School, Lincoln-Way Central, Hinsdale South, Minooka High School, Lincoln-Way East, Reavis High School, Oak Forest High School and Providence Catholic High School.
This year’s honorary chair will be the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Mr. Tim Reilly. Tim Reilly is in his 37th year of public education, with 31 of those years at Lincoln-Way. For most of his career, he was a teacher and coach. He taught English for 22 years and Reading for 8 years before moving into administration.
During that time, he created a program for underachievers (the CORE program) that received awards from the National School Board and in 2004 he developed Lincoln-Way’s Reading Program. That program received recognition from the Illinois State School Board and the National Reading Association. More than 150 other districts now use reading program strategies developed at Lincoln-Way.
Some of his greatest memories occurred away from the classroom, as Mr. Reilly coached wrestling, football, and track for 19 seasons at Lincoln-Way. He currently serves as Lincoln-Way’s Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment, and he will be retiring from public education at the end of this current school year.
Mr. Reilly is a lifetime resident of Joliet, where he lives with his wife of 35 years Laura, daughters Amanda, Amy, and MaryJane, and his three grandchildren Josiah, Aron, and Natalie.
Each day of the tournament, the first game will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Lincoln-Way East main gymnasium. The championship game will be played at 3:30 p.m. on December 29, 2017.
