Lincoln-Way students receive Awards of Excellence for artworkWednesday, November 22, 2017
Two Lincoln-Way students were among the 15 local area students to be selected by the full-time Joliet Junior College Studio Art faculty to receive special recognition for their outstanding artwork. Lincoln-Way East junior, Gabrielle Frencl, and Lincoln-Way Central senior, Julia Roessler, were chosen to receive Awards of Excellence for their artwork on display at the Joliet Junior College High School Art Exhibition earlier this month.
Frencl and Roessler’s pieces were chosen by art instructors out of the 100 works of art included in the exhibition selected from 20 area high schools. Frencl’s piece is a scratchboard drawing and Roessler’s piece is a chalk pastel drawing.
"The Art Department is very proud of the recognition that Gabrielle and Julia received for their artwork. With the level of talent and competitiveness that this exhibition involves, it is a high honor for both girls to be recognized with awards,” said Phil Labriola, Lincoln-Way District Art Department Chair.
An awards ceremony for this exhibition will be held at Joliet Junior College in the Fine Arts Theatre located on the garden level of the Fine Arts Building. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 30.
