Lincoln-Way District 210 Board of Education seats new members, elects new leaders

On Monday, May 1, 2017, two new members were seated at the Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 Board of Education meeting. The meeting took place at 7:00 p.m. in the Knights Round Table Hall at Lincoln-Way Central High School. The two new members are Mr. Aaron Janik and Ms. Beth Janus-Doyle. Mr. Christopher Lucchetti, Mr. Joseph Kirkeeng, and Mr. Joseph Kosteck, who were appointed last year, were also officially seated.

Lincoln-Way West Softball raises funds to "Strike Out ALS"

On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, softball players from Lincoln-Way West High School teamed up with players from Glenbard West High School to “Strike Out ALS.” In total, students raised over $5500 to support their cause. Each athlete on the Lincoln-Way West and Glenbard West softball teams sold at least five T-shirts in order to raise funds; attendees of the game also participated in raffles and contributed to donation buckets. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and the Antonelli family.

Lincoln-Way East students observe autopsy via livestream

On Wednesday, May 3, 2017, Griffins enrolled in anatomy and physiology classes and forensic science classes had the opportunity to view an autopsy via livestream. Lincoln-Way East science teachers initially learned about the opportunity, called Live from the Morgue, in November while attending the Northern Illinois Science Educators (NISE) conference.

Lincoln-Way Central students excel in SkillsUSA State Championships

From April 27 " April 29, 2017, seven students represented all Lincoln-Way high schools in the SkillsUSA State Championships in Springfield, Illinois. Of the seven, four were from Lincoln-Way Central. The competition was held at the Prairie Capital Convention Center and at the Capital Area Career Center.

National Merit Scholarship Program names Lincoln-Way East senior as winner

On May 9, 2017, National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced this year’s National Merit $2500 Scholarship winners. The 2,500 Merit Scholar designees were chosen from a talent pool of more than 15,000 outstanding Finalists in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program. Lincoln-Way East senior Sabrina Corsetti has been named a winner.

Lincoln-Way students place in annual welding contest

On Friday, May 5, 2017, over 30 students from Lincoln-Way Central, Lincoln-Way East, and Lincoln-Way West participated in the annual Joliet Junior College (JJC) Welding Competition. Eighty students from local schools participated in the event, which was divided into a high school and a vocational competition. Students from Joliet West, Joliet Central, Grundy Area Vocational Center, Wilco Vocational Center, and Kankakee Area Career Center were among the competitors.

Lincoln-Way West senior accepted into King Conservation Science Scholars Program

On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, senior Allison Caskey of Lincoln-Way West was notified of her acceptance into the King Conservation Science Scholars Program at Brookfield Zoo. The program offers a hands-on experience for teens to learn about animals and conservation, network with others, and make a difference in their communities while preparing for college and future careers. While enrolled, students attend interactive workshops, participate in research studies and activities at the zoo, and attend career and college readiness courses.

On the evening of Wednesday, May 17, 2017 the Lincoln-Way East Yearbook Club invited parents and members of the administration to an exclusive “first peak” at the 2016-2017 yearbook. Students, staff, and families gathered in the Lincoln-Way East multipurpose room where they were sworn to secrecy before viewing the final product, which was released the next morning.

District 210 community awards over $300,000 in scholarships

Scholarship Nights kicked off on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Lincoln-Way Central, followed by Lincoln-Way West on Tuesday, May 16, and wrapped up with Lincoln-Way East on Wednesday, May 17. Between all three schools, the Lincoln-Way community awarded over $300,000 to 406 graduating seniors.
