Lincoln-Way District 210 to provide placement exam to 8th grade students of private/parochial schools

Lincoln-Way District 210 will be providing a placement exam to 8th grade students in private or parochial schools who intend to register at Lincoln-Way for the 2017-18 school year. The exams will take place at each of the Lincoln-Way High Schools, and students are welcome to test on whichever date and location is most convenient for them.

Lincoln-Way student chosen to join U.S. Army All-American Marching Band

On Friday, September 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lincoln-Way Central Auditorium, senior Rebecca LiVigni was inducted to the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. Members of the United States Army and sponsor American Family Insurance welcomed LiVigni on stage as her parents and mentors surrounded her.

The Canadian National (CN) Railroad cuts through the southern portion of Lincoln-Way District 210 boundaries. According to Social Science Department Chair and U.S. History teacher Eric Byar at Lincoln-Way West, its history “is taken for granted by most residents.” The railroad line--formerly the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Railway (EJ&E)--is a vibrant and diverse railroad.

Lincoln-Way West boys soccer team donates winnings to hospital

Two weeks ago, with the support of the local community, the Lincoln-Way West boys soccer team won a Battle of the Fans contest during the 13th Annual PepsiCo Showdown, which is the largest high school soccer tournament in the United States. In 2016, 216 high schools and more than 21,500 student-athletes have participated in the program.

On Wednesday, October 5, 2016 Liam Elsden, a senior at Lincoln-Way East High School, arrived at the stadium entrance for soccer practice. He believed he would attend a regularly-scheduled practice, but was surprised with a special presentation by his teammates, friends, mom, and sister. Elsden was presented with a Hewlett-Packard laptop to honor his efforts in giving back to the community.

In early November, the Lincoln-Way Central Theatre Department will perform The Man Who Came to Dinner in the Lincoln-Way Central large auditorium. The Man Who Came to Dinner is the story of Sheridan Whiteside, a radio personality who decides to join the Stanley family for dinner one night; however, upon his arrival, Whiteside trips on the front porch and breaks his hip. Whiteside is forced to stay at the Stanleys’ home until his hip recovers. During his stay, he causes mayhem.

Lincoln-Way Central Mathletes win second conference meet in a row

The Lincoln-Way Central Mathletes won their second conference meet in a row on October 19th. Lincoln-Way Central scored 696 points to Lincoln-Way West’s 686 points. The Knights captured nine first-place spots and two second-place spots out of 15 areas of competition. For the first time in Lincoln-Way Central Mathlete history, all three oral competitions earned perfect scores. Sophomore oralists were Ennis Lange and Behnam Shamsaddin in the topic of Sets, juniors were Ben Bethke and Alex Manka in the topic of Probability, and seniors Matt Klock and Bailey Tincher in the topic of Linear Programming.
