Lincoln-Way East Student Selected for Prestigious Congress of Future STEM Leaders

Lincoln-Way East junior Anna Rose was selected to join students from across the country at a prestigious three-day Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders in Boston in June. Rose received the invitation from Buzz Aldrin, a heroic American astronaut who serves as Science Director of the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists.

L-W North to Host Annual Orchesis Recital

The Lincoln-Way North Orchesis Dance Company is hosting its annual recital this Friday, March 6 at 7 pm. The recital will be held in the North Fine Arts Center, 19900 S. Harlem Avenue in Frankfort. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $2.00 and the concert is free for guests five years old and under.

L-W North Pep Band Selected to Play during March Madness

Lincoln-Way North High School's Pep Band was one of only seven bands selected to play during March Madness, the IHSA Boys State Final Basketball tournaments. North's Pep band will play for the Class 1A/2A Tournament on Saturday, March 14 at the Peoria Civic Center. The band is directed by Kirk Hickman.

L-W West Student Named Finalist in USS Illinois Art Contest

Lincoln-Way West senior Jessi M. Karlic was named a finalist in the USS Illinois Ship's Crest Design art contest. Nearly 140 entries were submitted and Karlic was named one of five finalists. Illinois students were invited to design the crest as a representation of Illinois and the USS Illinois, a new nuclear submarine. The finalists' artwork best represented the dedication of the crew to the principles of democracy and peace through strength.

Lincoln-Way East Students Help Restore Area's Native Habitat

Students spent the day with members of the Forest Preserve District of Will County to remove invasive species. Six students removed honeysuckle and other debris at Hickory Creek Junction in Mokena.
